SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This job is responsible for maintaining sterilization equipment and surgical instruments, issuing packing and sterilization of supplies, instrument trays and inventory service to surgery and patient care units.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
Individual must provide evidence of one of the following:
Holds and maintains either the Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) credential.Â
Previously employed or contracted for services as a central service technician by the hiring Penn State Health (PSH) health care facility on or before December 29, 2020, or had been employed to practice as a central service technician as the primary function at another healthcare facility at any time prior to December 29, 2020Â

New employees who do not meet one of the requirements above have 18 months to obtain the Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) credential in order to maintain employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
Previous experience as a Surgical Technician or Sterile Processing Technician preferred.Â
