About the opportunity:
The Perioperative Coordinator Surg Tech is an employee who demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients and to provide direction and act as a resource to other staff caring for patients within their designated team. Responsible for the assessment, implementation, and evaluation of care for the assigned surgical team.
What you will do:
Establishes and maintains clinical standards of care for the department. Monitors staffing patterns, matches skills to patient needs, and ensures that appropriate resources are available to deliver the highest quality care.
Coaches, supports and mentors clinical staff as needed to maintain or improve clinical competency in specialty area. Achieve and maintain the expert level of knowledge for the designated team and will be able to function in the role of scrub at the completion of 12 months in the role.
Participates/leads multidisciplinary rounds, inservices, and care conferences. Participates in problem solving sessions/case conferences for selected complex patient or family situations.
Participates in direct patient care, works as a team member, and promotes the highest standard of care in evidence-based practice. Independently follows through on projects.
Monitors daily materials utilization and ensures availability of equipment and supplies.
Participates in department and hospital wide patient care programs and performance improvement activities in accordance with Joint Commission and regulatory standards.
Completes and exchanges information including unusual events between on-coming and off-going staff and leads unit huddles to outline plan of on-coming shift incorporating SBAR mode of communication.
Acts as a facilitator/mentor/preceptor to staff and assists staff in developing expertise in OR competencies. Assists in achievement of department and hospital goals.
Responsible for managing, maintaining and completing preference cards to ensure accurate information is available and shared with all staff.
Develops and maintains a positive relationship with surgeons, fellows, staff, and physician extenders on designated team. Aligns communication with CRMT tools, time out, briefings and debriefings.

Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

What you will need:
Experience:
Two years of Surgical Technician experience preferred.
License(s):
State of Colorado Surgical Technician (ST) license required.
Certification(s):
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Computer / Typing:
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
