Alton Memorial Hospital has a full-time opening for a Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT) III to work an evening shift. In this role, the MLT will analyze maintenance, complete calibration and quality control; troubleshoot analyzers errors. Preanalytical duties include receiving specimens and processing specimens; Answering phone and calling critical results.
Evening/midnight shift with rotating holidays and every 3rd weekend.

The Hematology department consists of the analytical testing area that includes testing for complete blood count and other hematological diseases.
Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose
Performs specimen processing and routine / complex testing on blood and other specimens which requires a knowledge and understanding of quality control, basic instrument maintenance, and procedure methodologies and reference ranges. Maintains appropriate documentation of all activities as required. Demonstrates good laboratory practice May also coordinate the activities of the lab.
Responsibilities
Reports and maintains record of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turn around times for routine testing and stats.
Documents patient test management problems/concerns on quality documents and initiates corrective action.
Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results. Performs laboratory procedures for specimen collection, processing, test analysis.
Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary. Monitors quality control performance and corrects any problems and or reports any problems to the appropriate department. Assesses technical and or instrument problems, including quality control and abnormal findings, evaluate possible solutions and chooses an appropriate course of action to solve the problem.
Trains new personnel in methods, procedures and use of equipment and instruments specific to the assigned area.
