Highest Need - Friday coverage
Participates in patient tracking and follow-up processes, assisting with recalls, additional imaging coordination, and biopsy scheduling as required by departmental workflows. Supports breast center initiatives, such as accreditation preparation, community screening events, or quality improvement activities. Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams. Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems. Performs high-quality examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis. Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks. Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements. Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images, adjusting technical factors and compression as needed. Ensures patient identification, safety, and comfort, explaining procedures clearly and addressing questions or concerns with professionalism and compassion. Follows all MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines, including quality control testing, equipment performance checks, and documentation requirements. Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team to ensure accurate imaging and timely communication of results or next steps. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of Mammography and Diagnostic Radiological Procedures/Positions [Required]
• Ability to determine appropriate technical factors [Required]
• Knowledge of Mammography equipment and MQSA and ACR regulations [Required]
• Ability to learn and master new tasks related to Image Quality and Radiation Safety [Required]
• Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds [Required]
• Ability to complete Mammography exams in a timely manner even under stressful condition [Required]
• Knowledge of PACS and associated equipment [Preferred]
• Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English [Required]
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]
• Ability to make judgments that must be made on a regular basis regarding exam protocols and imaging techniques, based upon patient condition and provisional diagnosis [Required]
• Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures [Required]
• Must maintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures [Required]
• Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff [Required]
• Performance of 2D and 3D mammography exams [Required]
Education:
• Associate [Preferred]
• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
Work Experience:
• 1+ year of experience [Required]
Licenses and Certifications:
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Registered Mammographer RT(R)(M)(ARRT) AND Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) with Texas Medical Board (TMB) [Required]
