As a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), you will leverage your technical and problem-solving skills to perform a wide range of tests—both manual and automated—in our clinical laboratory.
For Medical Technologists (MTs):
MTs conduct complex tests and troubleshooting, evaluate methods, and maintain quality management and safety programs.
Strong communication skills are essential for collaboration with healthcare teams and regulatory agencies.
An in-depth understanding of the biochemical and pathophysiologic basis for laboratory procedures is required for effective result interpretation and correlation.
For Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLTs):
MLTs perform highly complex testing under the guidance of an MT and must also engage in troubleshooting and quality management.
MLTs should possess strong communication skills and a solid understanding of laboratory procedures to ensure effective collaboration and result interpretation.
Key Responsibilities for Both Roles:
Perform laboratory tests according to established protocols with limited supervision.
Properly collect, handle, process, and store specimens.
Operate computer-integrated and networked laboratory instruments.
Compare test results to reference ranges and exercise independent judgment regarding reportability.
Participate in performance improvement initiatives and communicate resource needs for budgeting.
Uphold privacy and demonstrate respect for patients, families, visitors, and colleagues.
Notice Requirement: A 30-day notice is required upon resignation.
Education Requirements:
Medical Technologist (MT): Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or a related science, with completion of a 12-month accredited medical technology training program.
Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT): Associate degree and completion of an accredited medical laboratory technician program.
Certification:
Required: None
Preferred: ASCP, AAB, AMT
Experience:
Required: None
Preferred: Two years of experience in various laboratory disciplines.
