Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented entry level Phlebotomist/CPT 1 to join our dynamic team in Support Services. As a Phlebotomist/CPT 1, you will play a crucial role in performing pre-analytical and post-analytical activities, ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory. Primary duties include:
•Perform phlebotomy on inpatients and outpatients. Will rotate in all phlebotomy areas (e.g. 200 Med Plaza, 100 Med Plaza, and all Med Plaza satellite draw stations).
•Perform EKG
•Answer phones to provide reports and respond to questions within the scope of knowledge.
•Triage all lab samples and requests after verification of appropriate information.
•Generate computer labels for specimens and deliver to appropriate areas.
•Prepare samples for transport to referral labs or storage.
•Document draws, added tests, and cancelled/rejected specimens.
•Handle computer operations (report printing), and engage in data entry and retrieval.
Salary Range: $25.62 - $31.86/hour
*Completion of probationary period in conjunction with adequate years of experience may result in a career ladder to CPT II position.
Qualifications
•Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT I).
•High school diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED or HiSET).
•Ability to work in various locations (e.g. 200 Med Plaza, 100 Med Plaza, and all Med Plaza satellite draw stations).
•Skill in using a computer and printer.
•Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull at least 20lbs. of equipment/supplies on a regular basis.
•Ability to reach overhead, bend downward and forward, and alternate between sitting or standing.
•Ability to perform repetitive tasks, such as data entry.
•Ability to work weekends, holidays, and other shifts as needed.
•Previous experience performing specimen processing in an acute care facility, preferred.
